We’ve Helped Improve 911 Operations:
- Sponsored the FIRST meeting of all five counties 911 Emergency Services, which continues today
- Launched Appreciation Program for Area First Responders
- Instrumental on getting the Mecklenburg County cell tower
- Working with local politicians in both NC and VA to improve Rural 911 shortcomings and the need to reclassify Dispatchers and EMS
We’ve made the Lake Safer:
- Had an Interactive Lake Map and boat ramp locations placed at all 5 County 911 dispatch centers to make easy access for water rescues
- Initiated yellow boat dock sign identifiers to all communities on the lake, linking them to 911 centers, in order to make it quicker for First Responders to locate you on the water in an emergency
- Sponsored program to install road signage on all bridges crossing Lake Gaston
We’ve made Neighborhoods Safer:
- Educated public on proper procedures when dealing with an emergency around Lake Gaston, and how to use the “what3words” app to provide a precise location.
- Purchasing Reflective signs for those who can’t afford one by partnering with Helping Hands to every ramp built and providing easy purchase forms for those who can
- Launching “neighbors helping neighbors” program by offering free CPR/AED and First Aid classes as well as giving out free first aid kits
- Placing climate controlled AED boxes in 5 locations to date
