Read Our Story
Task Force founder Sherry Herzing’s husband, Bob, collapsed and died of a heart attack in August 2018. The loss of her husband was devastating and difficult to accept, but our organization was formed to prevent other families from experiencing a similar loss.
Our Areas of Focus
Our mission is to educate the public and publicly elected officials in order to save lives and aid in improving the 911 operations in the five counties surrounding Lake Gaston: Brunswick, Halifax, Mecklenburg, Northampton and Warren.

Cell Towers
The current 911 system is configured to route wireless 911 calls to the PSAP based on the location of the cell tower. Critical seconds are lost trying to identify the caller’s location when they are not within the PSAP’s jurisdiction. >>> Learn More
Lake Safety
The LKG 911 Community Task Force has partnered with the Lake Gaston Water Safety Council in an effort to help each other disperse information. The LGWSC will be including our LKG 911 Task Force Help packet with their packet of water safety information that is provided to Lake area realtors which are given to all renters on the lake as well as all-new homeowners. >>> Learn More

We invite the public to join in to recognize area dispatchers, EMS, firefighters, and law enforcement personnel who dedicated themselves to public safety in our community. >>> Learn More
